Crankshaft Fall Update

E-mail Print PDF

crankshaftHello everyone,

I'm super excited to say that my CD/LP release will be at the legendary First Avenue Night Club in Downtown Minneapolis! I've always wanted to have a release party or have a big event at this club! The party will be on the night before thanksgiving, I'll be co-billing with national act Ike Reilly, and this night ALWAYS SELLS OUT!  The password protected tickets go on sale this Thursday at 10am, do not slack if you would like to be a part of this historic night! The password for presale tickets is "boogie"
The release party will be amazing, I'll be playing with all three of the drummers who were recorded on the album, plus I'll have a three piece horn section on the stage! We'll be covering a ton of new material from the album I'll be releasing that night, also, for the first time ever it will be available on vinyl and CD as well!
If you are unable to attend the release party don't worry, I'll be coming to a Minnesota venue near you in December! The  will also be available on Itunes, Amazon, and Google Play onNovember 25th
Upcoming shows as well as the local album launch mini tour dates are listed below, hope to see you soon, thanks for the support everyone, I'm so excited to share this new release with you all, it turned out so bad ass!

L'Assassins 7" Release Party

Fire of Love cover-loresMinneapolis garage-punk luminaries L'Assassins have more than made their mark on the Twin Cities music scene. They've notched two European tours along with several U.S. sojourns, and they're about to hit the road behind their new seven inch. A-side "Fire of Love" was written specifically for L'Assassins by Twin Cities new-wave king Chan Poling (The Suburbs). Their savage B-side "Liar" sees the band at the snarling top of their punk-rock game. These two songs cement L'Assassins' international reputation as bad-ass ladies making bad-ass music in the vein of Thee Headcoatees, Trashwomen and The Pandoras
When L'Assassins shared a bill with The Suburbs in the fall of 2014, lead singer Chan Poling had already become familiar with the band's amalgam of garage-surf-punk rooted in trashy B-movie culture. To their surprise, he approached them with a song he'd written with them in mind: "Fire of Love". L’Assassins and Poling quickly worked out an arrangement, and hit the studio with he and his Suburbs bandmate Steve Price producing. They also recorded the band’s own just-finished "Liar", supplemented by an organ part by Poling. The resulting record is an incendiary blast that slips perfectly into the rest of their four-year-strong catalog.

Crankshaft December Update

E-mail Print PDF

crankshaftHello everybody!

I'm happy to announce that I've slotted eight days for the recording studio in December! I've got 16 new songs written, arranged and ready to be recorded, that will probably be whittled down to 12 for the next release. I'll be recording with three different drummers for this release, Pete Hennig, George Marich, and Victor Span. Each of them bring a different bag to the table and I'm super stoked to be working with them! Three of the new songs will have horn arrangements, one with backup singers, and Tony Comeau will have a pretty rad fiddle part in a song called Stuck. I'm confident that this will be my strongest release yet, the songwriting has been a two year long process!

Hope to see you this Friday, I've got a big gig with Hobo Nephews at the Turf Club! All of December's shows are listed below, these will be the last local shows until March, as I will be down south during January and February visiting friends and family. See you soon, have a great holiday season! Alex
